Susan Hallissy

B.Optom.(Hons.) Ocular Therapeutics (ACO)

I grew up in Canberra and have been practicing optometry in this city for over 20 years. I graduated from the University of NSW with first class honours. After working in Canberra for a few years, I spent two years working in The Netherlands as an optometrist in an ophthalmology clinic. During this time I helped co-ordinate clinical trials of emerging glaucoma and macular degeneration therapies. I returned to Canberra in 1999 and worked in several practices before commencing at Unique Optical in 2003.

In 2016 I completed a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, so I can prescribe ocular medications for many eye conditions. I enjoy interacting with patients, many who I have looked after for many years. In my spare time I enjoy running (including one marathon), orienteering and a new interest in kayaking.
